ROLE:

TEAM LEAD – TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS (Asterisk, Java, J2EE, JSP, VoIP, Linux, SQL)

QUALIFICATION:

MCA, BCA, BE (EC/CS/IT)

EXPERIENCE:

3 – 5 years.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Well-versed across platforms including web technologies like Advanced Java (including JSP, Servlet, Struts, JDBC, JAXB, Google Web Toolkit, J2ME etc), databases (MySQL / MS SQL), management of application / web servers such as Tomcat / IIS and telecom scripting tools and with knowledge of SSL, socket and event programming and TCP/IP.
Hands-on understanding of computer hardware architecture, TCP/IP networking, Windows Operating Systems maintenance including group policies, registry editing, batch file scripting.
Knowledge and experience on JAXB, Google Web Toolkit and Google APIs will be an added advantage.
Should have strong ethics, communication skills and be able to demonstrate able leadership skills and be a part of organization mid management.

Desired Candidate Profile:

Hands on experience in IVR and web application development (Asterisk, VoIP, J2EE, SQL, PHP. Perl, E1/SS7, Perl, PHP) Enthusiastic, someone who wants to be an integral part of a growing business and be accountable for results.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Manage and lead the technology team at Phonon.
Work profile will include complete responsibility and accountability for system design, application development, system maintenance and managing delivery and functioning of Phonon’s technology operations.
Areas of work will include managing: Telecom Applications including computer-telephony integration, outbound dialers, click-to-call services etc.
Web Portal including portal design, feature and content management, eCommerce Integration, customer / back-office sub-portals, 3rd party web-services integration etc.
Ensuring tracking and managing entire project / software delivery life-cycle including proper documentation, code development, testing, user-roll-out and training.
Ensuring team productivity and achievement of schedule / timelines.
Team skill development and training.
Managing and maintenance of system uptime.
Ensuring timely customer support and problem resolution as per customer SLAs.

Product Manager – Internet Operations

Job Description:

Look after overall product management of our Internet-based telecom services.
Developing and managing product portfolio, feature set, road-map, pricing based on target sectors and company requirements.
Coordinating with technology team for product feature development and milestone achievement.
Coordinating with sales team for marketing collateral (offline / online) generation, pricing and proposal preparation.
Coordinating between customer, sales and technology to ensure delivery of customer solution / POC.
Managing online presence including: managing website / service delivery portal including content, look and feel etc.

Candidate Profile:

Graduates with past experience in IT (Software, Services), Internet / VoIP sales.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exposure to Graphic Designing / Flash / Photoshop etc. will be an added advantage.

Passengers get info on flight glitches via Phonon.in tech

A VADODARA-based firm is planning to free the world of the hassles an airline passenger goes through when a flight is rescheduled. It has developed a system that will help airlines automatically inform all passengers of a flight about the delay in the event of the flight being rescheduled.

The company, Phonon.in which was launched by Samish Makhija, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad alumni, provides new media customer interaction and automation solution.

His son Ujwal Makhija, an IIMCalcutta alumni is the chief executive of Phonon.in while Mr R Ramaraj, founder and former chief executive officer,Sify .com is an advisor on the board.

The automated flight reschedule information system has already been deployed by UBICS, the information technology services arm of the UB Group for Kingfisher Airlines.

Now, the company is also planning roll out a solution for airline ticket booking through a GPRS system and simple SMS.

Mr Ujwal says that the automated flight reschedule information dialer for aviation industry would enable airlines to reduce costs as well as bail them out from aggravated customers on account of the delays in flights. The company is targeting a flourishing breed of private airliners that are facing immense challenges in maintaining the flight schedules due to congestion on airports and weather conditions.

“There are great opportunities ahead with increasing applications of telecom technology in business with changing dynamics. We are developing applications for new generation industries such as organised retailing, aviation, travel and tourism, banking and finance among others,” said 27-year-old Mr Ujwal Makhija with prior work experience at Tata Consultancy Services and overseas travel companies.

Makhijas are in talks with national and international information technology companies for marketing and technological alliances.

It recently joined hands with Conterra Systems of Netherlands for technology and shortly going to ink a marketing agreement with Pune based Onesutra, travel technology marketer. Mr Ujwal claimed to be working for number of Indian companies to design and manage their IT requirements.

The father-son duo are also planning to set up a marketing office overseas. “Our exposure to the industry, technology and management would have enabled us to set up company in any part of the world. But Vadodara is the place where the cost of operations is minimal. The availability of talent in the city is not a problem with large number of graduates from all the disciplines passing out,” said Ujwal, an electronics engineer from city-based Maharaja Sayajirao University.

Out-of-the-box ideas – hosted services in HT LiveMint

Phonon’s hosted services are listed in the Hindustan Times’ LiveMint.

One of Phonon.in’s latest offering is what it calls a click4call solution that connects customers with marketers, by punching in a phone number while surfing the Web. Immediately, a Web server makes a call connecting the visitor to the advertiser.

Founded in 2006 by Ujwal Makhija, the proprietorship firm provides so-called computer telephony integration, interactive voice response and mobile solutions. Makhija says Phonon’s success will depend on its execution skills as well as support to users. Firms such as OnMobile Global Ltd make for competition for the profitable Vadodara firm that topped Rs1 crore revenue mid-2008.

Phonon has an early mover advantage in India, says Rajesh Srivathsa, managing partner, Ojas Venture Partners, but “there exist quite a few companies that provide (such) solutions (overseas)”.
